Hello!
This is the place for graphic novels, art, design or any other artform that deserves to be mentioned that does that tinkle to the soul.
My blog name is ‘The Wandering Dutchman’, but you can call me David. I am a dutch-born Londoner. Some of my interests vary from the Franco-Belgian comics from people like: Marjane Satrapi, Joann Sfar, Guy Delisle and Dominique Goblet (all published by L’Association) or the old works from Franquin and Fred Aristidès, or the works of North-American artists like Chris Ware, Will Eisner, Art Spiegelman or Robert Crumb. From Israel there is a whole world of great artist, but Rutu Modan stands out.
Living in England, I noticed an almost entire absence of both quality and quantity comic books: this term alone doesn’t cover the world of the graphic narrative, the 9th Art. A medium that is better than any other art form in channeling thought, mind, beauty, rhytm and soul to the receiver. A reading country like the UK should have so much more of this beautiful and learnful (one of my dunglish words) visual enlightenment!
Have a look at some of my work and projects here: www.enker.net.
Then, there is my running project Neshuma, which I am not updating at the moment now I have this blog: The Wandering Dutchman.
Other than ‘comics’ I like the work of the excellent dutch graphic designer H. N. Werkman, the posters and titles from Saul Bass, or the BlueNote album artwork from Reid Miles and the like.
Art….almost too much to mention, so just a sample: Mark Rothko; the Dutch masters: Vermeer, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and Escher.
Architecture… Daniel Liebeskind, Zaha Hadid, to name some.
So, welcome to this site and enjoy!
